The old British Sovereigns is a 22 carat gold coin, titled at 916°/00.
It was minted for the first time in 1489 on the request of the King of England, Henri VII.
On the observe side stands the effigy of the monarch of the era in which it was minted (Georges III, Georges IV, Victoria, Edward VII, Georges V, Georges VI).
The reverse side shows Saint Georges on his horse fighting a dragon.
Under Saint Georges representation, you can see the year as well as the initials “BP” from Benedetto Pistrucci, the engraver of the coin.
